Co-productions are sometimes possible (for a cut of box office), which can greatly reduce your rental cost. Ask us! Or, do a season with us! Companies who plan a long run or multiple shows can get substantial discounts for booking 16 weeks or more. Let’s talk.

Deposit. To reserve, we require one-half of total (or all, if under $500). Full payment is due in advance of the first week.

Insurance. Your own separate insurance is required. We can give you the name of an event insurer.

Seating/Staging. Ours is a true black box theater space, about 33 feet by 25 feet total. In setting up your show you’re not limited by anything but your imagination – there’s no proscenium, no permanent stage, no fixed seats. The flexible seating ranges from under 40 up to as many as 75 seats. Talk to us about the different possibilities. The primetime show has priority to set the layout.

Lights. There’s a lot of lighting instruments available, so even if there’s another production running other nights, with some thought and consideration of others’ plots (if any) we should be able to hang whatever you need and your lighting operator can come in a little early to swap the plugs around. Talk to us, we’ll work it out.

Sets. We mostly keep sets simple, but anything is possible within reason. Your set and props need to be somewhat out of the way for classes during the first half of the week. For late shows, no major set-building is expected.

Access for performance nights is normally from 6 pm; 5 pm or earlier get-in times can be arranged if your show needs it. Late night shows start at 10 pm or later, depending on the main stage show, and usually need to be out by 12:30.  Talk to us.

Tech & dress rehearsals. Classes – our bread and butter – are scheduled most weeknights and weekend days (see above), so one popular arrangement is to do tech and dress rehearsals the weekend before you open, during the same time slots you will be running the show (instead of long rehearsals on the weeknights just before you open). However, you may also book available hours any day before or after classes if you wish. Also, you can work (quietly) backstage and in the booth while classes are running.

Programs/Postcards. We recommend our neighbors, Medicus Graphics. They are not the cheapest in town but their work is excellent and you’ll find them very helpful and convenient! Larry Blum distributes your cards to all the theater-fan spots for $150.

Marquee Banners. Shows that run 6 weeks or more may use the marquee(s). You can get a full-color banner for about $88. Ask us.

Ticket sales. For larger productions, we can sell your advance tickets 24/7 through our website, 800 number, and/or lobby. We can also set up Goldstar half-price sales through our account there if you want. We’ll show you how to check the sales nightly. We can put a blurb/pic on our home page for your show for a $75 setup fee.

LA Stage Alliance. Insight is a member of LASA, so shows that we co-produce are eligible for Ovation Awards. LASA also offers half-price ticket sales through their site. You fill out the paperwork and handle voter registration, etc.

We run a theater company too, so we know how it is. We’ll discuss different arrangements if something else is on your mind.
